The United Arab Emirates (UAE) are definitely not a random sandpit in the Middle East but a fascinating, young and developing federation of seven Emirates (no…Qatar is not part of it!).

The Emirates are:
Abu Dhabi – The capital (no…it’s not Dubai!)
Dubai (essentials and add ons – hottest spots)
Ajman
Fujairah
Ras al-Khaimah
Sharjah
Umm al-Quwain

note: “Al Ain” is a city in Abu Dhabi, not an Emirate itself

Once upon a time..
Nomadic groups inhabited the large desert and mainly subsist on agriculture, hunting as well as later on pearl diving.
In the 16th century us, the PORTUGUESE (among others), appeared in the Gulf.
In the 19th century the pearl industry boomed and only later British companies developed natural resources – Oil.

Meaning, contrary to popular belief the UAE did not kick off with Oil resources – it was a long, tough and fascinating way – ALL THE WAY UP (..quoting Fat Joe’s song..)!

The UAE is not only a metropolis of cultures but also religions. A country which values and respects every gender, race and religion equally! – Shocked? 😀
